About 100 Moldovan retirees have marched to government headquarters to protest high food prices they say they can't afford on their meager pensions.
"Down with the government!" and "No corruption!" read banners held during Tuesday's protest.
The protesters blame government policies for falling living standards.
The retirees demanded to see Prime Minister Zinaida Greceanii to air their grievances, but were told she was not in Chisinau, Moldova's capital. Police had to stop some retirees who tried to push their way into the government headquarters.
Retirees have an average monthly pension of 550 lei (US$55, €36) which is about half the minimum salary in Moldova.
